Live event sketching - Wedding & Bridal

For live event sketching, I base price on the amount of guests, approximating $10/guest. So a wedding of 160 guests would normally yield 80-120 sketches and I’d charge $1600. I say one sketch per couple or group, and I cap the number of sketches at 75% of the guest count (I’ve never had anyone want one who wasn’t able to, as a majority of wedding guests are couples or groups!). 

I normally start the sketches during cocktail hour - guests come up to my table and pose for a quick photo that I use as a guide to sketch them (this is easier than taking 5-10 minutes out of their socializing time to sketch them). As guests sit down for dinner and then continue the night with dancing, I complete all the sketches and then set them out on the table for guests to collect when they leave for the night. I normally anticipate an extra 2-3 hours to finish the sketches after cocktail hour.

I also tack on a transportation and materials fee of $150 for weddings within a 45 minute drive of Wicker Park, Chicago and $200 for weddings over a 45 minute drive away. So please factor this fee on top!

By this math, an example wedding with a 160 person guest count in Evanston, IL (within a 45 minute drive) would be $1600 + the $150 transport/materials fee, totaling $1750. If you're booking the date within 3 weeks of the bridal expo, you can subtract the $50 discount - leaving the total at $1700.

All I need to reserve your date is a 50% up front deposit on your intended guest count. I realize guest counts are subject to change until very close to the wedding, so should your guest count increase or decrease, we can calculate the second half of the payment accordingly, so you either pay slightly more or slightly less in the second installment.

I ask for the second/remainder payment to be made 14 days out from your event. I accept payment via credit card, Venmo or Zelle.

Other FAQS:

• Do the bride and groom get a sketch? Of course! I'll have you (the couple) pose for a few shots and do 3 sketches of you (no extra cost for these). If you'd rather wait until your professional photos come back, I can do sketches after the fact based on those photos and ship them to you in the mail.
• Can we do colored sketches? As of right now, no. I love working with color but it takes way longer and isn't feasible to do at this scale. It's black and white only - I personally prefer this as it's more chic!
